For me Coloured Pencils are an extraordinary medium and are also extremely versatile to work with.

As an artist I feel somewhat challenged because of the reaction I get from most people when I say that I work with Coloured Pencils. For example: “Oh, but thats not a real medium” or “So do you paint or what...”
No, I don't paint, I draw; because I love the challenge of working with pencils, and I continue to be inspired and motivated in working in this medium. The feeling I get when working on a new piece of art sends my emotions shooting up and down my body. The minute I put pencil to paper i'm off.

My main subject is the human body. Since the beginning of my artistic venture I have been continuously excited by the human condition. My first works were a storyboard of myself and I would draw on A4 paper everyday for a couple of months.During this period of time I realised a lot about myself and my artistic abilities.

As I progressed further I began to open up more and see subject matters all around me. This led me to start drawing from my surroundings. I would pick the most mundane objects and draw them. The freedom in realising that I could draw anything and bring it to life through my pencil was an amazing feeling.

My working process normally starts with a photo shoot and then I will edit the pictures and select which piece I will start with.
This method of selecting helps me to find the desired compositon that I am looking for and also to create the contrasts between the lights and darks that inspire me so much.

I do art because it is a part of who I am, it is my way of expression to both myself and the world and I look forward to a long and exciting artistic endeavour.
